Family Background

Her parents, petty traders, earned meagre incomes that could barely meet the family’s basic needs, let alone cover school fees. Joyce often walked long distances, taking risky shortcuts to get to school. From a young age, her talent in dance was clear, and her determination to use that talent to support her education drove her to perform at community events, where she earned small contributions to buy scholastic materials. Joining Rockies lifted a heavy burden from her and her family’s shoulders, giving her the chance for steady, consistent education — an opportunity she embraced with deep gratitude and commitment.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
Joyce joined the Rockies Organization in August 2017, inspired by friends who were already members. Sadly, just a month later, she lost her father, which made the family’s situation even more difficult. Rockies stepped in, providing mentorship and educational sponsorship. Today, Joyce is pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Office and Information Management at Makerere University Business School in Kampala.
