Moureen Kirabira

Family Background
Moureen Kirabira was born and raised in Wambeete Village, Mayuge District, in Eastern Uganda. She grew up with two siblings under the care of a single mother. To support the family, her mother ran a small business selling matooke and fish within the village. Despite her efforts, providing consistent financial support for the household remained a challenge.
Moureen’s singing talent became evident at a very young age. While in primary school, she earned a scholarship to study at St. Peter’s Junior School, Kyengera, in exchange for her active participation in the school choir. She completed her primary education at this school and later received another bursary to attend Crested Secondary School, Kawempe.
However, the outbreak of COVID-19 while Moureen was in Senior Two disrupted her education and led to the loss of her scholarship, placing her academic progress at risk.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
When schools reopened after the COVID-19 lockdowns, Moureen was admitted into the Rockies Education Sponsorship Programme. Her sister approached the organization on her behalf, and after a thorough review of her circumstances, she was accepted.
Like other beneficiaries, Moureen was enrolled in school and is currently (2025) in Senior Six at St. Andrew’s College, Ssanda. Rockies Organization currently supports her education, accommodation, healthcare, and feeding, allowing her to focus fully on her studies and talent development.
Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements
Moureen is a strong and expressive vocalist with impressive vocal control and range. In addition to singing, she is expanding her artistic abilities by learning cultural dances, which has enhanced her versatility and confidence on stage.
Aspirations
Moureen aspires to establish her own fashion house and plans to pursue studies in fashion and design after completing her secondary education. Alongside this goal, she hopes to become a leading musician in Uganda, using her voice and platform to advocate for the rights and wellbeing of underserved children and women.
