Family Background

Abdul was born and raised in Nassuuti Village in Mukono District in Central Ugada. He was brought up by both parents  in a family of eight members. His father was a performing artist and his mother was a house-help to an Indian community that lived in Mukono.

Although the parents tried to send their six children to school, they still struggled to take care of their family. Through various hardships, though, they were able to educate Abdul up to primary seven which he completed in 2024.

The parents then approached Rockies Organization seeking an opportunity for Abdul to join and benefit from Rockies artistic mentorship and education sponsorship.

How Rockies Organization Stepped In

Abdul joined Rockies in November 2024, immediately after completing his Primary Leaving Exams. He immediately embarked on his artistic journey by immersing himself into learning the various traditional dances and playing selected instruments. In a short time, Abdul demonstrated strong commitment to learning and personal growth.

Abdul was also enrolled into secondary school to continue with his educational journey. Currently (2025), he is enrolled at St. Andrew’s College Ssanda in Senior 1.

Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements

So far, Abdul has mastered several cultural dances such as Ekitaguriro, Runyege-Ntogoro, and Ekizino (Western Uganda), Zulu Dance from South Africa, and Kadodi (Eastern Uganda). In addition to his dance skills, Simon is also working hard to nurture his skills in playing instruments. At the moment, he has mastered playing the drums and tenor bow harp.

Aspirations

Abdul’s dream is to become a professional chef in a 5-star hotel. He further dreams of constructing a hospital in his community and building a house for his mother.
