Stuart Kalule

Gender: Male

Talent Areas: Instrumentalist, Traditional Dancer

Family Background

Stuart Kalule was born in Kasuku Village, Nakawuka, in Wakiso District. He is the youngest of three children, raised by his single mother – a small-scale farmer with limited resources. When Stuart was barely a year old, his father separated from his mother, leaving her to raise three children alone in a small, rented single-room house. With no source of income and no land to farm, she was forced to take on any work she could find – digging in neighbours’ gardens for food and doing laundry for families around the village – just to put food on the table and keep a roof over their heads.

When Rockies Organization relocated its base to Nakawuka, Stuart’s mother began working at the centre as a casual labourer. She often brought young Stuart along, where he would watch rehearsals with awe. His curiosity and instinctive rhythm were impossible to ignore – even as a toddler, Stuart would pick up instruments and try to play them.

Stuart’s mother enrolled him in nursery school when he was five years old. However, it quickly became evident that his education would be inconsistent without external support. Recognizing this, his mother approached Rockies Organization to seek assistance.

How Rockies Organization Stepped In

In 2023, recognizing both Stuart’s passion for the performing arts and the financial challenges faced by his family, Rockies Organization admitted him into the Education Sponsorship Program while he was still in nursery school. Upon completing nursery, he was enrolled at St. Joseph’s School, Nakawuka, where he is now in Primary One. As the youngest member of the troupe, Stuart continues to show remarkable potential and enthusiasm – qualities that promise a bright future as a star performer.

Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements

Stuart is a fast learner and shows outstanding promise in both music and dance. He has already mastered how to play the lead drum in dances like Bakisimba and is quickly learning the xylophone. In dance, he has already learned Ekitaguriro and Runyege-Ntogoro dances from Western Uganda. His enthusiasm, discipline, and quick learning pace mark him as a future star within the troupe.

Aspirations

Stuart dreams of becoming a pilot and one day building a house for his mother. He also aspires to establish a home for homeless children, ensuring that others like him grow up with love, dignity, and opportunity.
