Brenda Methia Nalubega

Gender: Female
Talent Area: Dance, Singing
Family Background
Brenda Methia Nalubega was born in Kasensero Village, Rakai District, a rural fishing community in Central Uganda. Her early life was shaped by both emotional and economic hardship. She never knew her father, who abandoned the family when she was still a baby. Overwhelmed by the responsibility of raising Brenda and her siblings alone, her mother made the difficult decision to take them to live with their maternal grandparents, hoping they would receive a more stable upbringing.
Brenda grew up in a crowded extended household of 14 children, including siblings and cousins, all under the care of her aging grandparents. Her grandfather worked as a subsistence farmer, while her grandmother, a retired midwife, ran a small village clinic with extremely limited resources. Although loving and supportive, the grandparents struggled to provide enough food and consistent education for all the children in their care.
From an early age, Brenda understood the weight of her circumstances. She often walked long distances to school without basic scholastic materials, sometimes even on an empty stomach. Despite these hardships, she remained determined and successfully completed Primary Seven. At school, she actively participated in the school choir and a local dance troupe. It was through these performances that Brenda was noticed by a Rockies trainer, who recommended her to the organization’s management for consideration.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
When Rockies Organization followed up on Brenda’s situation, they confirmed that she was indeed a disadvantaged girl in need of urgent support. Her difficult background, combined with her natural talent in dance and singing, convinced the team to admit her into the program in 2023.
Since then, Rockies has taken full responsibility for her education, covering all school-related expenses. She is currently enrolled in Senior Two at St. Andrew’s College, Ssanda. In addition, Rockies provides her with safe accommodation, nutritious meals, and access to medical care — giving her the stability she needs to focus on both her studies and her artistic growth.
Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements
Brenda is a gifted performer whose passion for the arts shines both in dance and singing. She has quickly adapted to the rigorous training at Rockies and is steadily mastering traditional Ugandan dances such as Bakisimba, Nankasa, Muwogola (Central Uganda); Ekitaguriro, Ekizino, Kinyarwanda, and Runyege (Western Uganda); Adungu (West Nile); and Tamenha Ibuga, Irongo and Nalufuka (Eastern Region). She is gifted with a strong stage presence and an expressive voiceto match.
What makes Brenda unique is her resilience and determination. Despite the many challenges she faced growing up, she approaches every training session with discipline and enthusiasm. Her ability to learn quickly and her eagerness to embrace new skills make her one of the most promising.
Aspirations
Brenda aspires to become a medical doctor, a dream inspired by the struggles of her fishing community in Kasensero, where access to proper healthcare is limited. She hopes to one day provide medical services to vulnerable families who often cannot afford proper treatment, while also continuing to nurture her talent in dance and singing as a way of inspiring hope and resilience among young people like herself.
