Joseephine Akello

Gender: Female
Talent Area: Dance, Singing
Family Background
Akello Josephine was born and raised in Kalongo Town Council, Agago District, Northern Uganda. She grew up in an extended household of ten people, comprising six siblings, two parents, and two relatives, under the care of both parents. While her home environment was loving and supportive, the family faced persistent financial challenges.
Her father worked as a carpenter while her mother practiced subsistence farming. Although the family was not among the most destitute, their income was insufficient to consistently meet school fees, scholastic materials, and basic household needs for all the children. As a result, Josephine occasionally missed school or lacked essential learning materials.
Despite these challenges, Josephine remained determined, optimistic, and deeply passionate about both education and performance. She admired her parents’ efforts to keep her in school and stayed focused on building a better future for herself.
How Rockies Organization Stepped In
In 2019, during a regional talent search organized by Rockies Organization, Josephine was identified for her raw talent in music and dance. She was invited to join the organization, marking a major turning point in her life.
For Josephine, Rockies organization became a reliable support system. She often says, “Rockies became my mother and father,” referring to the emotional, educational, and material support she has received. The organization has supported her schooling, provided mentorship, and offered a platform for talent development. This has helped her regain hope and direction.
Josephine is currently in Senior Four (2025) and attends school consistently through full sponsorship from Rockies Organization. She is committed to balancing her academic studies with the development of her artistic talents, recognizing both as vital to her future.

Aspirations
