Family Background

Julius was born in Okana Village, Maracha District (Northern Uganda) into a family of seven children. His father abandoned the family, leaving his mother as the sole breadwinner. Despite her best efforts, the family lived in poverty, and Julius’ education was disrupted several times due to lack of fees and support from relatives. Julius grew up with a natural gift for music, often creating songs and rhythms to lift the spirits of his siblings.

How Rockies Organization Stepped In

Julius was introduced to the Rockies Organization by a friend who recognized his musical talent. He joined Rockies in January 2019 and found a supportive environment where both his artistic and academic potential could thrive. With the organization's support, he resumed formal education and is currently pursuing a Bachelor’s degree in Tourism and Hotel Management at Muteesa I Royal University in Kampala branch. Over the years, he has grown into a disciplined performer and a role model for younger members. Under the mentorship of the Rockies Management Team, Julius has developed into one of the Troupe’s leaders.

Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements

Mandela is an accomplished singer, actor, and multi-instrumentalist. He plays the tube fiddle, bow harp, various drums and xylophones. His ability to combine vocal strength with instrumental playing skills makes him a key figure in our troupe.

Aspirations
Julius hopes to attain a Master’s degree and establish a tour and travel company that promotes Ugandan culture and creates jobs for young people.
