Tobias Walusimbi

Gender: Male

Talent Area: Dancer, Instrumentalist, Sound Technician

Family Background

Tobias Walusimbi was born in Busega, a suburb of Kampala Capital City. After his parents separated while he was still in kindergarten, he was raised by his maternal aunt in Misansala Village, Masaka District, Central Uganda. Although his aunt provided care and stability, limited household resources made it difficult to fully support his education and personal development.

From an early age, Tobias showed interest in music and movement. However, financial constraints and the lack of structured opportunities meant that his talents could not be nurtured consistently at home.

How Rockies Organization Stepped In

Tobias joined Rockies Organization at the age of seven in 2015, and found a safe, structured environment that supported both his education and talent development. Through consistent mentorship, training, and care, Rockies provided him with stability and opportunities that allowed him to grow academically, socially, and artistically.

Being part of the organization exposed Tobias to multiple creative pathways, helping him develop discipline, confidence, and a strong sense of purpose. Like other members of the organization, he was enrolled in school and is currently studying at St. Andrew’s College, Ssanda.

Talent, Uniqueness & Achievements

Tobias is a versatile and committed performer with strengths in dance, music, and technical production. As a traditional dancer, he is proficient in several dances, including Ekitaguriro, Ekizino, and Runyege–Ntogoro from Western Uganda, Larakaraka from Northern Uganda, Kadodi from Eastern Uganda, and Zulu dance from Southern Africa. In addition to dance, Tobias is steadily developing his instrumental skills and has mastered playing the Mujaguzo drums.

What further sets Tobias apart is his keen interest in sound engineering. Recognizing this aptitude, Rockies Organization invested in training him in sound technology. He is currently one of the troupe’s Sound Technicians, a role in which he provides technical support during rehearsals and performances.

Aspirations

Tobias aspires to grow into a well-rounded creative professional, combining cultural performance and technical skills in sound engineering. Through these skills, he aims to build a stable future for himself and contribute meaningfully to the creative and cultural sector in Uganda.
